Stop blaming girls and their clothes!

In a recent article about a school in England, females are not being allowed to wear skirts as a “safety” precaution. However, Year 11 females ARE ALLOWED to wear skirts. The reasoning by the school is that skirts put the girls in more danger. If so, then why do the Year 11 females get to wear skirts? The school is willing to put the older students in danger on purpose (according to their logic, skirts create danger)?

Parents Just Don’t Understand (especially parents of teens going to parties)

Remember the old Will Smith song, “Parents Just Don’t Understand”? Well I fell into that category last night (along with another Mom of a high school teenager hosting a party). One of my sons was going to a party at a house where we did not know the family. As we advice in our programs, we called ahead to talk with at least one of the parents – to find out their rules and policies for hosting a party. Do they allow alcohol and what are their expectations for the students?

Students in Mosinee in Trouble over Sexual Assault Awareness

High school students in Mosinee, WI took action to speak out about sexual assault with a T-shirt concept often used on college campuses around the country. You can see a picture of one of the shirts speaking out against sexual assault in the full article here.

Here is a quote from the Acting Associate Principal at Mosinee High School in Wisconsin (as quoted in the Wausau Daily Herald):

“I’m all for educating students on this topic, but I think it should be done during the month of awareness using pamphlets and fliers from an established organization. That would add some substance to the cause,” Kaczor said.
