As a former USA Swimming Coach and club swimmer, I was extremely disappointed with Chuck W’s interview with 20/20 discussing sexual abuse of youth swimmers – by their coaches.
When he had the opportunity to apologize to the swimmers and families who experienced abuse at the hands of USA coaches, his smug response was completely inappropriate. USA Swimming must react quickly by mandating Sexual Abuse Training (as many other sports currently do) and creating a system for encouraging reporting to the national offices.
