A good friend of The DATE SAFE Project, John Sileo, shared this powerful piece of art with us that his daughter Makayla created. I felt compelled to share it with you. Her words below say it all…
“I wanted to create a piece that was harder to handle as I feel this can expand a persons view on the world. I’ve always thought that art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable and so this is my answer to this idea. It is a timeline about the loss of innocence. It starts with a girl looking at a flower, the flower representing purity. This theme is then used throughout the piece to anchor it and show how sudden and tragic and real some of these things can be.” – Makayla Sileo
